I Hate That Mirror
im a lvl 19 E/R ive tryed to beat my mirror a thousand times, id like to think i was just an elementalist cause i didnt do anything to keep my ranger skills up, anyways before i went into battle i equipped these skills.
glyph of lesser energy
aura of restoration
earth attunement
ward against foes
armor of earth
magnetic aura
ressurection signet
flare
i equipped those skills cause i read on another thread that helps but everytime i flare him i do 38 damage where as he does 58 everytime he hits me making it impossible for me to win,as for attirbutes i got my fire magic maxed out and energy storage maxed out, nothing on water magic earth magic etc. my fire wand is putting out 10-18 damage its got improved casting speed and customized to me. i got a flame artifact that gives +9 energy
can someone help me out plz i want to ascend.

To defeat the mirror you can often do it with stupid set ups. For example, what if you used a low cooldown skills like say, Lava font, as your only skill on your bar? If you refresh it more often than they do you win. I won with backfire (E/Me) so im not sure if this works in practice or not.

When I fought it with my mesmer, she stood in the chaos storm, so I'd imagine the ele mirror isn't much smarter. Use ranged sustained AoE skills, and take advantage of the fact that you know better than to stand inside them. Meteor Shower won't even harm you if you move due to its delay in effect, but you'll get to see the animation in advance. Fire Storm isn't powerful enough to bother you much.
Also, other options include bringing mostly silly skills that are worthless or harmful when used, such as Armor of Frost and then bringing all fire skills, or long cast weak spells + nature rituals. Traps are easily interrupted, and if you don't step into them, then you're fine.

Try doing it at level 5. I've died 41 times and I've only been able to cast Empathy twice.

You could just load up on ranger skills and go that way. I took 3 nature rituals, apply poison, marksmans wager, power shot, and penetrating shot. Use apply poison, enter mirror fight, unload all your energy, use wager and shoot away. My mirror was still casting the 3rd ritual when I used wager. I imagine an elementalist primary toast their mirror faster than my ranger could.
What happened to all the mirror fight threads hanging around?

I'm not sure exactly where--but there's a thread similar to this, and I posted something similar.
The mirror does NOT have the same attribute points as you. I don't know about those low lvl peeps, but when I was lvl 19 and fought my mirror, the mirror had what appeared to be 12 points in attributes. So if you have your skills that cover multiple attributes with low points, you are going on a suicide mission.
What I suggest is:
1) Rearrange your attribute points to only the skills you will be using. Try to max your attribute points (which is like 2 attributes max usually).
2) Keep ONLY the skills that you will be using. I would suggest deleting any useless skills that would be to ur disadvantage. Just drag the skill off the skillbar and it will make the slot empty.
3) Sequence your skills so that a human brain is beating AI.

Are you honestly having trouble as an ele/me? By far, those are the two easiest jobs to win with. Go in with maxed fire attribute, meteor shower, maelstrom, and fire storm. Cast fire storm first thing, then move out of his AoE. Wait for him to waste his next AoE, move out of it, and hit him with maelstrom. Finally, he'll sit there being interrupted, and you use meteor shower. It'll take you 25 seconds to win. Alternatively, bring those same skills, and backfire, with high domination. Cast it first, and wait for him to die. Or, empathy, and nothing else, dodge his bow attacks, and wait for him to die. Seriously, this fight can't be easier than it is when you're an ele/me.

He's E/R, I was the E/Me and yes it is that much easier. I think loading up on nature rituals sounds like the right plan.

Ok, whatever, my advice still stands. Just listen to the first bit about bringing the AoEs, casting, and moving out of the way. You can bring rituals to occupy his time too, I mean, it doesn't get easier than playing it as an ele.

I did it really spectacularly easily with a me/w. The bot likes to spam wastrel's worry...a LOT. 1 backfire practically kills him as he spams it. Spam wastrel's worry yourself to cancel his. He never uses backfire. Then hit him twice and he's dead. Takes literally about 10-15 secs.
Oh yeah and load up on skills which are useless in the situation like illusion of haste and illusion of weakness. He'll use them at the start and already thats 240 health down the pan to Backfire.
I helped out a e/r yesterday, he was asking for help at augury rock. What he did in the end was load up on:
1) lots of nature rituals with long casting times
2) lots of AoE spells with long casting times that he had no attribute points in
...just walked in and shot him to death while he casted.

The mirror has 2 downsides, which both of your classes can abuse.
1. He doesn't move. He'll sit through area spells, while you can walk out of his.
2. If you get to close range he'll switch to melee, so if you carry bow attacks he won't use them. I beat him by using Distracting Shot on his Troll Ungent while he axed me.
I don't know if this counts, but if you carry Charm Animal the mirror won't bring any pets. He will, however, smoke yours and disable your skills.

You are having trouble as an e/r? Actually, an ele is one of the easiest classes to ascend. Things you are doing wrong here, forget self heals or any heals for that matter. Drop all defensive spells too, remember, any heals or defensive spells you get, he gets too, and his are generally better, like his damage. So, now that we have no heals or defense, what now? Obvious, distraction for the win.
Choose one main spammable attack, in this case, flare, then look through your skill list for skills that do not benefit you at all or are totally in another skill line which you have no specs in, preferably enchantments, basically, anything that would make him waste time trying to cast them when it doesn't really help him at all and then you just spam flare right from the beginning to the end. Don't even bother waiting for the flare animation to start or finish, just spam it like you have fits, if you chose the right distraction skills, you should see him trying to cast those useless enchantments or whatever other useless spells you included while you are blasting his ass off. Remember, the aim here is to blast him away while making sure that he doesn't just do the same flare spam as you. My record for killing him with an el/mo was about 15 secs flat using this distraction tactic.
